Young Justice / Justice League and The Light Characters Theme
Name: Vanja

ABOUT YOU
Please describe your personality:
My personality can seem contradictory or random to others, as I can act quite differently depending on the situation and who I'm around. I'm cynical, but still have some idealism in the sense that I'm passionate about the causes I care about and still get disappointed when people seem to be going backwards. I enjoy helping friends, but I can't stand most people. I'm nihilistic objectively, but I do care about things on a more personal level. I've been called easy-going + intense, reckless + planned, among other things. Often, one part of these will appear much more prominent than the other part, but then it'll eventually swing back and the other half will appear more prominent to the same degree. In other words, these traits can appear to swing in extremes depending on who I'm around.

I can be too outspoken, argumentative, and blunt. While I can plan things out usually... well, if they're important actions, at least, I need better control over my mouth. I have a tendency to open it no matter who it is-- I've gotten into arguments with teachers, managers, etc... I do have a filter over it to an extent, but this has created problems in the past.

You could call me "self-made," for lack of a better term. Much of what I know, I had to learn on my own. I've had to dig myself out of an area that seemed to have a "Abandon hope, all ye born here... unless you're one of the few sons/daughters of factory owners!" motto, and it has severely impacted my overall mentality and perspectives.

For personality types: INTP/J-- I'm always strongly INT, but the J/P is near the middle. (I get J more, but the P descriptions normally do fit better, as I'm normally more easy-going.) 5 - "The Investigator", and most of that brief description for 5 (" Independent, innovative, and inventive, they can also become preoccupied with their thoughts and imaginary constructs. They become detached, yet high-strung and intense. They typically have problems with eccentricity, nihilism, and isolation") fits very well.. Chaotic Neutral, and while my morality is mixed and I don't believe in good and evil, I'm very far into that Chaotic spectrum. To briefly summarize all that: Often stuck in my own head. Determined. Prone towards disregarding rules. Willing to go out of the way for a close. Can be conniving and trickster-y. "Hard to get to know." Bored by routine and tradition. Adaptable. Challenges ideas. Prone towards thinking I'm right note to self: don't be such an ass.

Along those same lines, I'm a Scorpio, and I do tend to get either it (see: intensity, secrecy, and I do get jealous easily-- which is one of my least favorite traits) or Aquarius (progressive-thinking / possibly "misanthropic" when their views aren't met, can be alone despite not acting unfriendly by default, seen as strange by others, and "perverse"... well, does having a filthy sense of humor count?) +There's this popular quiz used on these, which does fit very well, particularly the part I highlighted.

Positive traits:
Analytical, independent, calm-minded (read: despite anything else, I at least think rationally), clever, open-minded, curious, "humorous"... but that can also be a negative *points below*

Negative traits:
Hopelessly self-critical, secretive (in the sense that I don't like to talk about my personal life - though I will talk about other things easily enough - and I tend to do/plan things without telling others), devious, obstinate, overly-curious, procrastinator, sarcastic/mocking/mixed with a dark sense of humor in general, rather bitter... at least if you catch me on a bad day.

Interests/Hobbies?: Video games, reading, mountain biking, hiking, and music (both playing and listening.)
Dislikes?: More than anything? Bigots, gender generalizations, people who complain but don't do anything to change whatever they're whining about, and the feeling of failure. Other dislikes include people who keep me up until 4 in the morning when I have to get up at 7, anything with the words "Hallmark" or "Lifetime" attached to it, and privileged people who think they're the most amazing people in the universe when they've never had to do anything for themselves in their lives.
How might others describe you?:
Depends a lot on who you ask. I've been called nice and helpful, but also a horrible demon, hah. Most people - at least after they know me - say something along the lines of "intelligent, snarky, and abrasive."

+ When I did Johari/Nohari windows recently the most commonly picked traits were independent, self-assertive, witty, logical, intelligent, trustworthy, cynical, chaotic, callous, blasé, overdramatic, and hostile.

*Though I was told people wanted adjectives which weren't there, like that blasé meant that I get bored easily, and overdramatic because of the self-criticalness causing me to think the world is ending if I get a C, get rejected by something, or anything else that could be interpreted as me not doing as well as I could... but there are better words that weren't options for all that.

ARE YOU MORE... (feel free to say "neither" or "both" for these questions and try to explain your answers!)
Leader or Follower?: More of a background leader. I'm too opinionated and outspoken to be a complete follower, but I prefer to advise rather than outright lead. I will take up a leader position if no one else is willing to and/or the only people who want to are incompetent, though.
Mature or Immature?: This is difficult for me to answer! I'm so used to be called "mature" as I was when I was a kid, but I feel like I'm growing more immature than mature, haha. It's almost like to make up for those years, I've become more childish. There are still times when I feel like the only mature person in the room, though.
Calm or Energetic?: Depends on the amount of coffee I've had? I normally act more energetic than I feel, though.
Optimistic, Pessimistic, Realistic, or Idealistic?: I have ideals, but I know what's realistic.
Reserved or Outgoing?: This is another "depends" case, as I can be quite chatty if something interests me and being argumentative is sometimes considered a sign of being outgoing, but I ultimately need time to myself to recharge.
Persistent or Agreeable?: Persistent, provided I care enough about something. I will let things go if they're not importable to me, but... you know those big 5 tests? I typically score 1% agreeableness on those... D: (My openness is always really high on the flip side, at least?)
Common Sense or Book Smarts?: Common sense. I trust this more than anything I can learn from something someone else wrote down. Although, I have been accused of being an intellectual before, I'm just more likely to rely on wits or do my own thing than rely on the "proper educated procedure" or anything of that nature.
Logical or Impulsive?: As said earlier, I think logically, and often my decisions reflect as much. However, I can also be quite impulsive if I simply do not care or consider something not really important enough. Put another way, I think things through if it involves anything long term, but can be reckless in my day-to-day life.
Emotional or Stoic?: I'm pretty good at keeping a calm exterior. Although underneath that...
Fun or Business?: Fun~ Really, who wants business first unless the business is fun? I will do it first because I have to, but it doesn't mean I want it.
Listener or Speaker?: Depends again? As implied above, my mouth tends to get me into trouble, but I listen to other people unless they're spouting nonsense, so...
Alone or With a Group?: Being alone is lonely obvious statement is obvious, but I do tend to do a lot of things alone... I prefer to be with a small group overall, though.
Trusting or Cynical?: Cynical.

GENERAL QUESTIONS
When it comes to dealing with challenges, you tend to...:
Attempt to beat them, but depending on what it is, not necessarily head-on. I very rarely give up if I truly want to accomplish something, however.
Would you ever hold onto an item for sentimental purposes even if you had no use for it?:
Er, sure? I wouldn't place too much emphasis on it since the actual people are more important and it's... an object, but.
What color do you associate with yourself and why?:
I don't really associate myself with any specific color, but the one I get most often tends to be red, due to it's passion, determination, and admittedly, some of it's less-anger-based negatives. Amusingly, I get green the second most, and it's nearly on the opposite end of the spectrum.
What are your views on the world?:
Hahaha. I'll try to summarize my views as quickly as possible: Not so great. And that's me attempting to word it nicely.
...How about humanity as a whole?:
Pretty much the same as the above, as the two go hand in hand. Well, maybe this is even less than the above, as at last the world has cats in it. Cats make everything better. Frankly, I find a lot of people annoying.
Which virtue do you admire most (in either yourself or others) and why?: I love it when people are willing to give new things a try, question things, or are just interested in how things work in general.

~MISC.~
Are there any characters for this theme that you DO NOT want to get stamped as? If so, list them here (you can only pick up to 2!): Batman, as I have a hard time imagining myself taking most of the actions he does lol I swear I do more than brood! Maybe Black Canary too, as while I really like her, I'd feel really strange getting her since I'm, er, nowhere near that patient and kind with the type of people she deals with.
Anything else you'd like to add?: I had no idea which YJ theme to apply for first. I seriously just closed my eyes and picked the one the mouse ended up closer to after messing it around, lol.

You must VOTE on all unstamped applications before applying! Please link to them below (or you can say "Done!" if you prefer): Done~

Breyzy and Yin Girl: Breyzy: I'm trying to be a good personbreyzyyin on January 23rd, 2013 06:21 pm (UTC)
This is tough! I could kind of see a few characters working for you, such as Lex, Green Arrow, Hugo Strange, and Aquaman. ...And this is going to sound so bizarre because I never would have thought of him had I not gone back and re-read his personality information and looked up some more info, but I'm actually kind of leaning more towards Aquaman. That seems odd already, but I'll try to explain it, lolz! O_O; Aquaman kind of has that contradictory/random aspect to his personality though: he's both bold and calm-headed, which aren't traits that tend to go together in the other options for this theme. As a ruler and given the things that have happened between him and his brother and even the situation with Aqualad to an extent, Aquaman has developed some cynicism...but he's still a member of the Justice League and even trains Lagoon Boy, so he still has passion for causes he believes in. Aquaman can be outspoken when he has opinions...and can be determined, adaptable, "hard to get to know," someone who challenges ideas, and tends to be prone towards thinking he's right until he is proven otherwise. I could also see Aquaman fitting for the INTP/J types (particularly the P one, considering that he is normally more easy-going as well). I could also see Aquaman in your Golden Compass test result as I get the impression that he often feels like the people close to him have to earn his respect and affection...and, while his jokes might not be offensive, he does often joke with others when he's expressing emotion. I can actually see Aquaman in pretty much all of your Positive Traits (Analytical, independent, calm-minded, clever, open-minded, curious, "humorous") and he shares your Negative Trait of being secretive (since he doesn't say everything all at once). ...Honestly, I kind of see more Lex and Green Arrow in your Negative Traits (and I'm really tempted to double-vote with Green Arrow, but I feel like a double-vote would be really unhelpful, lolz).

Aquaman shares your dislikes of failure and bigots in particular (as in the YJ comic tie-in he is shown to not approve of the more prejudicial beliefs of some of his people, and both his students are citizens that were prejudiced against in the Atlantean society: Aqualad with his visible gills and Lagoon Boy with his more fish-like appearance). I could see others describing Aquaman the same way that they describe you depending on the character describing him, lolz ("I've been called nice and helpful, but also a horrible demon, hah. Most people - at least after they know me - say something along the lines of "intelligent, snarky, and abrasive.""). While he's definitely more of a leader in Atlantis, Aquaman seems content to be more of a background leader concerning the Justice League...although he also voices his opinions, so he isn't a complete follower in that situation either. Aquaman is mature-ish, but he can also be more immature at times (particularly when he lets his guard down). Given his role, Aquaman has ideals but knows what is realistic.

Aquaman can be argumentative but isn't as outgoing as some of the options are; he's persistent if he cares about something and isn't always agreeable unless he's proven to be wrong; he relies more on common sense; tends to have a calm exterior; prefers fun even though he'll do business first when he has to; his mouth sometimes gets him into trouble, but Aquaman is also willing to listen to others (even those he disagrees with) unless he feels they're not really providing any wisdom; and he seems to prefer a small group from what I can tell. I do think how you approach challenges fits well for his character too...and, actually, his reasoning for taking on proteges kind of falls in line with the virtues you admire ("I love it when people are willing to give new things a try, question things, or are just interested in how things work in general"). XD

Gah, this is hard...as I could see pretty much all of the characters Breyzy mentioned being good fits for you at times: Lex, Green Arrow, Hugo Strange, and Aquaman (especially given what we see of him in the comic tie-in).

I think...I might be leaning slightly more towards a Green Arrow vote though, if only because he was the character I was thinking possibly of at first when reading your application and he just kind of stuck around afterwards. His personality does sometimes seem contradictory or random to others at times, as depending on a situation or what is going on around him...he'll react to things pretty differently. "I've been called easy-going + intense, reckless + planned, among other things." actually fits for how others in the Justice League or his proteges sometimes seem to view him as being in particular. These differing traits also seem to change depending on what's going on around him too (in fights that seem less challenging, he often comes across more easy-going and light-hearted...but he can get serious when a situation calls for it, and while he jokes around at times and has a more friendly interaction with his students--it's obvious when he becomes more serious about them and worried at certain points too). While generally laid-back about a lot of things...Green Arrow can be outspoken, argumentative, and blunt when it comes to situations at times too (especially if he disagrees with something pretty strongly--or if he just doesn't see as much of a need for staying silent, such as how he told Red Arrow about where the Justice League HQ really was). He's also very much "self-made" in terms of his capabilities, and that seems to reflect on his viewpoints on a lot of things going on around him as well: he has none of the super-powers of others in the League and constantly had to train himself to be as incredible an archer as he is...and he seems to be a little more laid-back and understanding of the fact that the proteges WOULD be making mistakes since they aren't as experienced as the Justice League is (whereas sometimes the other mentors seem to be a little less understanding if mistakes are made in the field by their proteges).

INTJ/P seems like a good fit for Green Arrow at times too (particularly the P portion...as he is more easy-going). He tends to be a fairly good investigator as well from what is shown in YJ and my other exposures to his character in different series too...so The Investigator personality type could fit for him as well. Certain aspects of the Chaotic spectrum also fit for Green Arrow too ("Determined. Prone towards disregarding rules. Telling Red Arrow about the true HQ despite it apparently being something he wasn't supposed to do. Willing to go out of the way for a close. Can be conniving and trickster-y. Well, he DID get Red Tornado to take over his guard shift once so that he could go on a date since Red Tornado doesn't understand human customs/priorities much. XD Bored by routine and tradition. He seems a bit more open to new ideas and possibilities than others in the cast are. Adaptable. Prone towards thinking I'm right. He does at times.").

Hopelessly self-critical (as can be seen by how much he blames himself later for all of the bad things that happened to his three proteges), secretive at times in terms of his personal life, devious, obstinate, overly-curious, procrastinator, analytical, independent, calm-minded, clever, open-minded, curious, and "humorous" are all personality traits that Green Arrow has as well. I could see him being described by others in a similar fashion too depending on the character asked to talk about him ("Depends a lot on who you ask. I've been called nice and helpful, but also a horrible demon, hah. Most people - at least after they know me - say something along the lines of "intelligent, snarky, and abrasive.").

Part 2 apparently XD
Green Arrow is definitely more of a background leader...he is far too opinionated and outspoken to be a complete leader, but he doesn't exactly seem interested in outright leading either (he usually just voices his opinions when he feels it's necessary, and tends to like to advise rather outright lead such as in his friendlier viewpoints on his relationships with Red Arrow, Artemis, and Arsenal...though he will step up to be a leader if no one else is going to do so). "I'm so used to be called "mature" as I was when I was a kid, but I feel like I'm growing more immature than mature, haha. It's almost like to make up for those years, I've become more childish. There are still times when I feel like the only mature person in the room, though." fits pretty well for Green Arrow too!

Green Arrow has ideals, but he knows what's realistic...and "This is another "depends" case, as I can be quite chatty if something interests me and being argumentative is sometimes considered a sign of being outgoing, but I ultimately need time to myself to recharge." seems to fit for his reserved and outgoing levels at times too from what I've seen of him in YJ and other things as well. He's persistent if he really cares about something strongly enough, and isn't incredibly agreeable at times when that is the case either (though he seems to be an incredibly open-minded character when it comes to most things anyways, which fits for how you described always having really high openness levels). Green Arrow relies a lot on common sense too. "As said earlier, I think logically, and often my decisions reflect as much. However, I can also be quite impulsive if I simply do not care or consider something not really important enough. Put another way, I think things through if it involves anything long term, but can be reckless in my day-to-day life." also fits for him quite nicely.

Green Arrow can keep a pretty calm exterior at times, though he's pretty emotional underneath that. While he will do business first when it is necessary, he also would much rather prefer to have fun. He can be a listener or a speaker depending on the situation, prefers a small group overall, and can be cynical at times (doesn't always show up in YJ, but it has been shown at times with his character in other things: both animated series and live action ones).

"Attempt to beat them, but depending on what it is, not necessarily head-on. I very rarely give up if I truly want to accomplish something, however." fits really well for Green Arrow's approach to challenges too. I could see him getting associated with the color red for similar reasoning (ironically enough given his codename and everything! XD). Green Arrow also doesn't exactly...have the best viewpoint of the world in a lot of ways (especially in the other series he's been in beyond YJ): his main reasoning for becoming Green Arrow actually stems from an attempt/desire to change the world for the better in a lot of ways (as he can help people who really do need help and who weren't getting it through other "proper" channels--or who had kind of just gotten victimized due to underhanded criminal, business, and political practices)...so I could kind of see your viewpoints on the world and humanity perhaps loosely fitting for him as well based on that interpretation of his character. I could also see him admiring the same qualities in others given his own viewpoints on things at times too: "I love it when people are willing to give new things a try, question things, or are just interested in how things work in general." :D

...Gah, sorry for the really lengthy (very obviously not going to fit in one comment) vote! XD I ramble too much when it comes to voting on rating comm applications, I swear. ♥
